What is a licensed care home, and how is it different from a nursing home?
Every home on this page holds a residential care facility for the elderly license (the state calls it an RCFE). These homes provide housing, meals and help with daily living. They are licensed by the Department of Social Services.
A skilled nursing facility is a different license, from the Department of Public Health, for people who need daily nursing care. A discharge to one is a different decision from a discharge to a care home.
