"Hospice waiver" is the state’s term for the approval a residential care home must hold before a resident receiving hospice services may remain in the home — unless the department has granted that home an exception instead (22 CCR §87616(c)). The waiver belongs to the home’s license; the hospice care itself is delivered by a separately licensed hospice agency the family chooses.
