These are care homes, not hospices — hospice care itself comes from a separate licensed hospice agency the family chooses. Every home with the waiver on file is listed below, alphabetically.

California requires an approved hospice waiver, or an exception from the department, before a licensed home may keep a resident receiving hospice services. Those are the department’s own words (CDSS Provider Information Notice 22-24-ASC, citing 22 CCR §87632).

Each home below carries the waiver on the state’s record. An exception is granted case by case, and the licensing record does not publish it — so this is not every home in the county that could.

## What is a hospice waiver in a California care home?

"Hospice waiver" is the state’s term for the approval a residential care home must hold before a resident receiving hospice services may remain in the home — unless the department has granted that home an exception instead (22 CCR §87616(c)). The waiver belongs to the home’s license; the hospice care itself is delivered by a separately licensed hospice agency the family chooses. A home without the waiver on file is not refusing hospice — the record shows no waiver, which is not the same as no route, and every approval decision stays with the Department.
